Need a better
understanding?
Your
tax money goes into different funds depending on where your
property is located. The county is split up into different
taxing units. Each unit receives a different rate; these rates
are called "levies". We use the levy along with the value to
determine the tax amount. Your taxing unit and levy are listed
on the top right side of your tax statement.

The
County Treasurer's role in Tax Distribution...
Tax monies that are collected throughout the year are distributed for
Public Service Agency funds on or before Jan. 20, March 20, June 5,
Sept. 20, & Oct 31. Checks are issued to these agencies
including schools, libraries, rural fire, cemeteries, cities, and
watersheds directly following these fund distributions. On the
upper right side of your tax statement it will show the break down
that each Agency will receive from your tax payment.
The
Treasurer's Quarterly report is published in the Yates Center News at the
beginning of February, May, August, and November and shows the
current balance each fund carries.
